Mystery Guest #1

Today in class we were lucky enough to have our very first mystery guest for the year! Who was it? Well it was Joseph Brown’s Granny Mandy.

Mandy is an artist and she came in and shared with us her paintings. She taught us all about native birds and gave the students a card to take home.

Thanks Mandy, you rock! What a great first mystery guest!

Hands-On Homework

This week’s hands-on homework task is to create a poll using Polldaddy. Polldaddy is a fantastic website that allows you to create your own polls for free.

You will have to sign up for an account and come up with a question for your poll. When you have finished you can put your poll on your blog and encourage people to vote in it.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up and get creating your very own poll!

Hands-On Homework

This week’s hands-on homework task is to visit the Palmerston North City Library. I thought since you have no school until Thursday this would be a good thing to do in your spare time.

If possible get someone to take a photo of you in the library and post it on your blog.

So what are you waiting for, grab mum or dad and visit the Palmerston North Library.

The Snail & Whale

Yesterday the Snail and Whale arrived at their new host school in North Carolina, USA. Check out this post that they put on the snail and whale blog!

Kia Ora and Warm Greetings from Waxhaw, North Carolina!

Today Snail and Whale dropped in to visit the New Town Superstars. The class were so excited to see their visitors. They have been waiting a long time for Snail and Whale to arrive. The class have been following Snail and Whale’s journey around the globe closely through the blog. Erik was the lucky person to open the special package and introduce Snail and Whale to the class.

Over the next week Snail and Whale will join us on last journey of being New Town Superstars. We have only one more week till school is out for the Summer. Our school year begins in August and ends around the second week of June.

Snail and Whale told us that it is a vacation weekend in New Zealand right now called “Queens Birthday Weekend” so we hope you enjoy your time with your families. Watch this space for more Snail and Whale adventures with the New Town Superstars!

Habits Of Mind

In 3D we have been learning about the Habits Of Mind. We decided to change the titles of the habits into kids speak and make posters advertising them. Check out Georgia T’s!
