The Manawatu Digi Awards is a student e-learning competition for schools throughout Palmerston North. Last year Russell Street school won 5 awards and we attended an awards evening at the Regent theatre.
Well this year it is on again! Are you going to enter? Anyone who is keen needs to see me and I will find some time in class for you to work on your entry.

At Russell Street we have a school band which is run by Nic. Check out this video of them practising for Thursday’s assembly. I think they are going to be awesome!
Next week’s hands-on homework task is to visit the newly renovated Te Manawa Museum. Te Manawa is a fantastic educational centre that has only recently reopened after a major renovation.
I thought this would be a great thing to do in the school holidays. If you are really keen, Te Manawa also have a specially designed School Holiday Programme.
Anyone who visits Te Manawa and sends me a photo to my e-mail can have a dot when they return to school.

Every week R3 plays R12 in the weekly flags challenge and yesterday was the final challenge for the term. Who came out on top? Yes, you guessed it, 3D! Way to go team, we rock!
Today at Russell Street we had 50 college teachers turn up to take all the Y3/4′s for Maths. The kids were really focused and enjoyed working with the college teachers. Check out the photos!
This week’s hands-on homework task is to record your favourite poem using Vocaroo. Vacaroo is an awesome online recording site that allows you to record your voice and put it on your blog.
