Breaking news, for the rest of the term I’m going to experiment with a new way of sharing our learning in R5! Instead of using our class blog to share our learning I am going to use our class twitter account!
I have been blogging in my class for the last 5 years and over that time our class blog has won numerous awards (Interface Blog of the Year, Edublog World Blog of the Year nominee). I have thoroughly enjoyed blogging but think it is now time for a change!
So from now on we are going to use our class twitter account, @PalmyKids, to share with the world! Our class twitter account is already very active as we use it to take part in Kidsedchatnz and connect with other classes around the globe.
I think by using our class twitter account we can share more easily and more often. It also means that the kids can be responsible for the sharing as well.
Basically we will be sharing the same stuff (photos, videos, learning, etc…) but on a different platform.
You don’t need a twitter account to see what’s happening all you need to do is click the picture below and read the timeline!
Let me know what you think, I’ll be interested in your thoughts!
Yesterday R5 took part in #kidsedchatnz with 10 other schools around New Zealand. R5 and I are now the official organisers of #kidsedchatnz as the founder has moved to Australia and he has handed the reigns over to us!
Since taking control we have made a few changes to the format. We have changed the day to Wednesday, made it a weekly thing and extended the time to 1 hour. Also we have started a new #kidsedchatnz blog and launched a #kidsedchatnz logo competition.
Yesterday’s session was based around writing and it was a huge success. Over 10 school’s took part and over 350 tweets were recorded in one hour. Wow, that’s awesome! Below is a picture of R5 taking part and a Storify of all the tweets!
If you want to join us next week just click here to find how and while you’re there check out next week’s topic!
Every second Thursday a group of kids in R5 take part in #kidsedchatNZ on twitter. So what is #kidsedchatNZ? Well if you want to find out all about it just click on the picture below and it will take to the official #kidsedchatNZ website.
The teacher who organises it is away this week so I am the official moderator for the session! How cool is that!
Today I thought I would do something different and spotlight one of R5′s student blogs. Whose blog did I choose? Well I choose Bella’s! Bella has a fantastic blog which is full of awesome, creative posts!
This is the first year Bella has had a blog and she is really proud of what she has achieved.
Well done Bella, you are always focused and are a role model to everyone in class!
Welcome to Room 5's Blog! We are a Y4 Class from Russell Street School in Palmerston North, New Zealand. We use this space to share all the great things we are learning and let you know what is happening in our class.
